John Glass

Sudden Death.- Major John Glass, an old resident of East Baltimore, died very suddenly at his dwelling on the corner of Thames and Block streets, on Sunday night. He had just returned from Virginia, and did not complain of anything unusual. Friends were with him at his house until half-past 8 o’clock, a short time after which he retired to bed, saying that he felt very tired, having had no sleep on the boat. Shortly after he went to bed, his family were made aware that he was suffering under a sudden illness, Dr. Monkur was sent for and immediately came, but could not do anything for him,  and he died before ten o’clock. His death was ocassioned by a disease of the heart, symptoms of which he had been troubled with for some months past. Major Glass was on of the defenders of the city in 1814, being attached to one of the volunteer companies from the city at the time.
